Gonggong, officially (225088) Gonggong, is a transneptunian object discovered in 2007 by Mike Brown, David Rabinowitz and Megan Schwamb. It is located on the Scattered Disc with a strongly eccentric orbit, which takes it at a distance of more than 100 AU from the Sun and inclined. It has a satellite, called Xiangliu, thanks to which its diameter, estimated at 1,230 km, has been calculated, making it one of the largest trans-Neptunian objects and a candidate to be classified as dwarf planet. Its name refers to the Chinese water god Gong Gong. It is located at an average distance from the Sun of 67.37 AU, being able to go as far as 101.2 AU and as close as 33.49 AU. Its eccentricity is 0.502 and the orbital inclination 30.73 degrees. It takes 202,002 DAYS (554.22 years) to complete an orbit around the Sun.
